Another busy weekend for Sandhurst Joggers and we haven’t even got beyond February.
First up the Run For Chocolate Series visited Windsor on Saturday and a big contingent of SJs including many graduates of the Pure Beginner programme took on the two distances on offer. Louise Heginbotham, Angela Foker, Laurie Foker, Ros Cosgreave, Claire Chase and Natalie Pollard finished the 5km event. While Holly Dunn, Jacqueline Hudson, Julie Graham, Sam Hart, Anna Marie and Monica Burbidge completed the 10km. Well done to everyone!
Meanwhile at Parkrun, Frimley Lodge saw eleven SJs in action with a PB for Pam Whelan and season bests for Dave O’Toole, Richard Boese, Phil Turner, Alan Kirby, Sarah Campbell-Foster and Georgina King. Over at Bracknell ten members raced with Richard Johnson first man home for the club and Lou Gubb first woman. Mark Stock recorded another PB this week while Dave Breslin and Patrick Wadsworth logged season bests. Just two members at Rushmoor with Jenna and Kim Soane in action. Also nearby at Woodley Phyll Berger made her first appearance of 2017. Plenty of Parkrun tourism this week with Lisa Hale taking the tour to Tilgate, Stuart Overhill at Homewood near Ottershaw and Mark Pattrick at Woodbank near Stockport.
On Sunday lots of SJs were in action at the Bramley 20/10 with many members using this as a long training run for April Marathons. We had thirteen take on the 20 mile race and Phil Guy was first member home with a cracking time of 2:22:23. Next home were 20 miler virgins Andrew Brooks and Jim Laidlaw both finishing under 2hrs 35 followed by Kathryn Shaw in 2:39:27. Wayne Boardman recorded a PB and Trish Monks, Sophie Le Saux, Erol Ali and Charles St.Aubyn also did well in their first attempt at the distance. Ian Watson was pleased with a consistent and comfortable sub 3 hour performance. We’ll have a full report from Andrew Brooks soon…
Over at Hampton Court Half Marathon three Sandhurst Joggers toed the line. Caroline Stuart did a great run to overcome some recent problems coming home in 1:56:50 while Heidi Zymela and Alice Copeland teamed up to finish in a great time of 1:45:23. Heidi will be giving us the low down on this event later in the week.
