29th/30th July – SJ Weekend Run Down

A quiet week on the racing front but plenty of great club runs and of course… Park Run…

Bracknell made a special ‘for one week only’ return to the old three lap course due to some issues with cleaning up the Great Hollands venue but the good news for many (127 runners to be precise) is that this resulted in a glut of course PBs including Sam Weller in 26:03, Colin Carpenter in 29:11, Blanche Barnes in 30:38 and Hannah Glaister in 31:23. Martin Steadman came agonisingly close to his best with 22:09, only three seconds shy! He had to be content with being first SJ to finish.

Over at Rushmoor Gerry Mepham put some speed into his legs with a rapid 20:44 while Andrea Semple ran her fastest with 33:28.

Fast times in evidence at Frimley Lodge with Neil Praine again under twenty minutes with 19:43 and Dave Ayling’s 20:49 his best on the course.

Some quality Parkrun tourism this week with Charlie St Aubyn at Blackpool, Yvette Glacken at Luton Wardown, Sharon Conquer in Northampton, John Tovell at home at Crane Park, Phillipa Francis at Evesham and Kevin Forster far away at Dungloe.

Don’t forget to add Sandhurst Joggers as your club in your Parkrun profile to help us keep track of your achievements.

Not much race action on this weekend but Lina Johnson made up for it with a 100 mile epic ultra at the Trailwalker 100 as part of a four person team. We’ll have a full report from Lina soon…

Max Woods ran a trail marathon on Saturday but we’re not allowed to talk about it… maybe we’ll be able to secure a highly entertaining account later in the week…

Another new Queen of Strava this week as Lina Johnson’s Ultra carried her to the to of the leaderboard with 100km. Lisa Hale took second with 57.4km and Phil Beard was third with 54.9km. Sixty-five members logged runs this week. To take part in this just create a free Strava account and link it to the club in your profile.

As always, please let me know if I’ve missed anything and share your results and achievements in the future so the rest of the club know what you are up to.

As always keep a look out on Facebook for details of the weekday evening runs.
