This festive period saw a raft of Parkrun milestones. On December 23rd Jane Bannister celebrated her 50th Parkrun with a big group of friends and clubmates at Bracknell. Let’s find out more about her and her running…
Q) For members who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself?
A) I have been living in Sandhurst for 18 years now and am married with two teenage children. Currently working as an accountant in Marlow. Also a member of 3CTri.
Q) How and when did you get into running?
A) I remember seeing people running around Sandhurst and over 5 years ago I decided I should start off by running back home after dropping my children off at St Michaels School. Once I had done that a few times I went along to the Tuesday night run and the rest as they say is history.
Q) What do you enjoy most about being a member of Sandhurst Joggers?
A) The friendship, support, and variety of runs available especially the chatty ones.
Q) On which of the weekly runs are we most likely to bump into you?
A) Currently Monday, or Tuesdays intervals and Thursday threshold run as well as Monthly Wednesday handicap. Although in the past I have also done track and the Tuesday club run.
Q) I see you’ve mainly run at Bracknell Parkrun, why is this your venue of choice?
A) It’s the closest and my favourite park run.
Q) What other events are on your programme for 2018?
A) For the first time ever I have actually got some events already booked in: Farnborough Half on 21st January, The Grizzly – 20 miler Off road in March, Leon’s 100th marathon in April (still deciding how far to run) and Endure 24 in June (for the 2nd time and this time in a team of 4).
