This week the club volunteered to provide pacers for Parkrun Bracknell and in a show of strength we covered a multitude of times from 22 to 44 minutes ensuring that all abilities were supported. Across the board we had great accuracy with most pacers finishing within ten seconds of their target times. Charlie St Aubyn won kudos for being the most accurate within 4 tenths of a second! (although official time has him one second over). There has been great feedback 59 runners achieved PBs on the day. Among those PBs were a couple of our own with Sarah Hyatt finishing in 23:23, Lucy Ong in 29:14 and Catherine Barnes in 32:32. Monica Burbidge and Lisa Harrold were missed off the results but also did a great job. Keep a look out for more Pacing events soon…
Still a great turnout of members at Frimley Lodge with Krzysztof Zielinski continuing his great run of form with another sub-20 minute run.
No Rushmoor this week as there was another event on.
Parkrun Tourism saw Stuart Overhill come close to a course PB at Bushy Park, Lisa Hale finish first female and bag a PB at Bedfont Lakes, Andrea Semple running her second and fastest Parkrun at Reading, Sharon Conquer at Northampton, John Tovell at Crane Park, John King at Telford, Will Lucas at Seaton and Max Woods preparing for his Ultra at the hilly Lanhydrock (taking 5th place overall for his efforts!). This week’s furthest traveller was Jim Casey at Kilkenny in Ireland.
The Mud Crew regulars headed down to Alice Holt for the gender specific Brutal race. Angela Foker, Karen Warren, Jacqueline Hudson, Julie Graham and Fern Stonestreet ran for the Women while Dean Emberson and Stephen Casey were in action later for the Men,
Alurie Dutton started another busy year with the Romsey 5 on a super flat course finishing the event in 56:16 for 3rd place in category. She was joined by Yvette Glacken in 57:01.
Another busy week on Strava with eighty Four members logging runs. To take part in this just create a free Strava account and link it to the club in your profile. Here’s the top 10 from last week:-
Please let me know if I’ve missed anything and share your results and achievements in the future so the rest of the club know what you are up to.
As always keep a look out on Facebook for details of the weekday evening runs.
Monday: Patrick will be leading the usual Monday night chatfest leaving Sandhurst Sports Centre at 7:30pm and covering approx. 6 miles. This is one of the most sociable runs of the week and a great opportunity to catch up with friends or discuss the preceding weekend.
Tuesday: Mike, Monica and the other run leaders will be leading multiple groups to cater for all abilities from beginners through to faster and more experienced runners. It’s perfect for novices and those coming back from injury or a long lay-off because you can start with an easy group and work your way upwards. The run starts at Sandhurst Memorial Park this week starting at 6:30pm. Later the interval sessions will meet at The TYTHINGS in Yateley at 8pm.
Wednesday: Andrea Vincent and Sharon Burfield are the General Members for the Wednesday which leaves from Sandhurst Memorial Park at 7pm. The run will cover approx. 5-6 miles over roughly an hour. Runners run at their own pace and loop back as needed. There has been a lot of interest in the 5k to 10k course starting later in the spring.
Thursday: This week the threshold/improvers run will be on the the Crawley Ridge route. Meet at Sandhurst Sports Centre at 7:30pm and don’t forget lights and high vis clothing. The run is a great way to improve fitness by running as a group at a slightly harder intensity. There is a shorter route available and a sweeper so nobody gets left behind.
Friday: Track is still free and the coaches have some great sessions planned for all abilities to improve fitness and technique.
Sunday: It’s the final round of the Thames Valley Cross Country League and Bracknell Forest Runners will be hosting the event at Lightwater Country Park. Captain Claire will be emailing more details soon…
