We missed the results of the February Handicap so ahead of the March edition we have a brief update to whet everybody’s appetite and get you all ready for tomorrow night’s action.
February’s run saw some the podium filled by some huge improvements of at least 2.5 minutes. Colin Carpenter knocked a whopping 6:57 off his previous best to take home the trophy. Lauren Askew and Blanche Barnes recorded improvements of 3:20 and 2:44 respectively to take home the next biggest points scores in the annual competition.
A healthy twenty runners took to the two lap Crowthorne based course so all were able to amass decent scores as points are awarded to the top 30. Its currently very tight at the top of the table with Patrick Wadsworth and Dick Newman tied in joint first place with Gerry Mepham in third.
There are still plenty of opportunities to score points as the best seven scores count but in a competition as tight as this its worth grabbing every opportunity available. Last year it went down to the wire in a final race showdown where the top three were separated by just a few points.
This four mile run over a two lap course around Crowthorne is ideal for all abilities and starts from the Morgan Rec in Crowthorne at 7:30pm. It’s a great way to track your fitness and progress through the year while enjoying the camaraderie of the club. If you’ve never ran this event before you can buddy up with a someone to show you the route and the route is swept so avoid anyone getting lost.
Don’t forget the traditional post run curry at The Raj in Sandhurst, let Emy know if you are coming as she is coordinating the booking. See you there!
