Recently Janet Ford completing her 150th parkrun. Here we find out more about her and her running…
Q) For members who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself?
A) Maths teacher and mum of 2 teenagers, originally from Manchester.
Q) How and when did you get into running?
A) A dedicated non-runner in my youth, I ran a 5k Race For Life, then challenged myself to run the Frimley Park Hospital 10k back in 2007. At the finish I bumped into another school mum, Elin who persuaded me to go on a Sandhurst Joggers run and a couple of Marathons, lots of halfs and even a triathlon later, I’ve never looked back. Just proving that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.
Q) What do you enjoy most about being a member of Sandhurst Joggers?
A) I love to run and chat, and there’s always someone to chat to in the club and you’re always welcome, whatever your speed.
Q) On which of the weekly runs are we most likely to bump into you?
A) I’ve not been running with the club much lately, but hopefully back with the Monday nighters soon.
Q) I see you’ve mostly run at Frimley Lodge, of the eight venues you’ve run at which is your favourite and why?
A) Elin and I were involved in the practice runs when Frimley Lodge Park run was set up, so it’s always my favourite.
Q) What other events are on your programme for 2018?
A) Park run has also got my son into running and we’ve both just entered the great south run, which will be his first long distance run.
Janet ran her first Parkrun on 13th February 2010 at Frimley Lodge, here’s some more achievements for the statos taken from the new ‘Parkrun Challenges’ Chrome Extension:-
