I was nervous for this race at it was my first 10k but I knew that the money raised in this race will go towards a worthy cause which helped me somewhat with the nerves!
Arriving at the race was easy enough car wise and no need to register as the details/number is sent in the post to you beforehand.
Before the race started there was a short word from campaigner and current ‘strictly come dancing’ star Katie Piper who herself was running the 10k, we then had a warm up and queued up for the start of the event.
The race/course itself was over a range of terrains and we experienced running through grass, on road and off road which some found more challenging than others! The course was advertised as a ‘lake run’ and lakes were in big supply as you had to run around a lake twice (the lake is nice to look at first time round but not the second-time round!). At every ‘km’ sign there were facts about the foodbanks and how much they help those who need it most, this not only helped you know how much you had ran so far but how much children and adults are assisted in their time of need.
The course was very well marshalled and they were very nice and supportive to all the runners, from the start to finish. Overall I enjoyed the run and I managed a new PB of 1 hour 20 minutes which surprised both myself and my mum who supported me and gave a lift there (thanks mum!)
