Q) For members who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself?
Q) How and when did you get into running?
A) I got into running after I left the Army whilst working as a pro musician and needing something to help me get over endless hours in smokey clubs, pubs, theatres etc.
Q) What do you enjoy most about being a member of Sandhurst Joggers?
A) Fern and I are members of Nuffield Health Club in Southwood, which is where we met our good friend Mike Guess and later Ray Hale, so joining SJ when we moved to Frimley was a no brainer. Straight away it struck us both how friendly and motivating the club is with no pressure at any sessions, just encouragement. Evening runs are not always easy to get to but I do try to attend the Handicap and have been to a few Tuesday and Thursday evening runs as well.
Q) On which of the weekly runs are we most likely to bump into you?
A) Sadly with our jobs the amazing social side of the club is something we haven’t been involved in very much although we did go to an excellent barn dance and the annual ball a few years ago, both fantastic events.
Q) I see you’ve mainly ran parkrun at Frimley, completing 94 of your runs there. Tell us why you like Frimley Parkrun so much?
A) So, it was Park Run 100 last weekend, a real milestone for me as I can only make 2 a month most months. 94 have been at at Frimley Lodge mainly because I can run there and back and make it a 10k. My PB is 20:43 and the goal is still a sub 20 but at the moment, after several injuries and some time out, just a return to full fitness is the goal.
Q) What other events are on your programme for 2018 and 2019?
Ian ran his first Parkrun on 17th July 2010 at Frimley Lodge, here’s some more achievements for the statos taken from the ‘Parkrun Challenges’ Chrome Extension:-

94 x of those at Frimley Lodge
6 x Personal Bests (fastest ever is 20:43 set at Rushmoor in June 2016)
