22nd/23rd December – SJ Weekend Run Down

Club Announcements

The festive season is well upon us so a brief Run Down this week just covering members’ parkrun endeavours and some useful info about Club Runs and other events of interest for the week ahead. And most importantly we wanted to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and here’s to an enjoyable and successful 2019!

Onto the weekend running action and parkrun…

Parkrun Bracknell attracted the biggest crowd of SJs with many participating in the annual pre-Christmas parkrun gathering and a few choosing to run in highly impractical festive costumes. Mark Fallowfield-Smith was first of the club into the finishing funnel as he claimed 1st in category and 4th overall, closely followed by Steve Mott who logged an impressive PB en route to 2nd in the VM40-44 category. There were more PBs from Sacha Kendall-Woods, Kerstin Johnson and Max Woods (thanks to him not adding an extra lap this time and the help of a magic elf!) Max also finished 1st in the VM50-54 category, Dave Bartlett took 2nd in VM55-59, Nikki Fallowfield-Smith 2nd in SW30-34 and Sacha was 3rd in her category. Carl Bradshaw ran at Bracknell for the first time. Throughout the field of 363 it was great to see so many members enjoying festive runs with clubmates and family members.

Frimley Lodge was also popular with 453 runners taking part. We had nine members in action with Jon Payne first J to finish.

Jon Green led the charge at Rushmoor as he was first member to finish as he also logged a Course Record for the Queen’s Parade course. Andrea Vincent had a great run claiming second in her age category.

Dinton Pastures suffered from flooding this week so had to use their alternative course (which would be familiar to anybody who has completed the winter Reading alternative course. Five SJs toed the line with Patrick Wadsworth first member to finish. George Green took 1st in category while both Kate Parker and patrick Wadsworth took 2nd in their categories.

Covering the locals and regular parkrun tourists first; Yvette Glacken was at Luton Wardown, John Tovell ran at Crane Park, Sharon Fields at Wycombe Rye, Andy Summerskill at Houghton Hall, Will Lucas at Seaton and Sharon Conquer was Tailwalker at Northampton. Richard Boese and Martin Gould were at Brooklands. Neil Praine took 4th at Homewood while Robert Jerrett was claiming 2nd position at the hilly Henley course.

Further afield Matt Jones ran at Leamington and Stuart Mayes at Tamar Lakes.
