The Annual Handicap competition wrapped up earlier in December with twenty three members lining up outside The Morgan Rec to seize the final chance of 2018 to score points and influence their final position in the series standings.
Amazingly long time series leader Colin Carpenter yet again posted the biggest improvement to take maximum points. he already had the 2018 Handicap title sewn up and the final run demonstrated his complete domination of this years competition. Gerry Mepham took second place just a second ahead of Graham Kelly.
Fastest on the night was Graham Robinson who finished in 25:50 just 3 seconds ahead of a fast finishing Andrew Brooks. Jim Laidlaw claimed 3rd a further 22 seconds back.
Whilst Colin was secure at the top of the table the battle for the remaining podium places was exceptionally tightly fought. Martin Steadman managed to scrape 3 seconds off his PB to claim 8th place points on the night which was enough to pip Blanche Barnes who finished 3 seconds shy of her best to take 9th place points and miss out to Martin by just a single point.
Sixty seven members took part in the 2018 competition. We will be resetting the table and starting afresh on Wednesday 9th January as the 2019 Handicap Competition kicks off.
