Club Kit – Please make sure you have paid for your hoodie by 20th September as Sally Kent needs payment to be able to order. If she doesn’t receive payment by 20th Sept she will not order your hoodie.
Onto the weekend running and starting with parkrun…
Bracknell – There was another good turnout at Bracknell this weekend, with 23 members lining up at 9am. First through the finishing funnel was Richard Johnson, with a time of 20:11, enough to bring him in 6th overall and 1st in age category. First female member through was Jackie Kent, also coming through 1st in age category with a time of 27:02.
Special mentions go to Nerys Cooper, Janet Venables, Tom Stafford, Vanessa Clarke-Morris and Jacqueline Hatton for recording PBs on Saturday. Another mention to John Barnes for running his first Bracknell parkrun on Saturday!
Frimley – 6 SJs were present at Frimley Lodge on Saturday, with Neil Praine leading them around in a PB time of 18:54 to come through 8th overall and 2nd in age category. First female SJ through was Michelle Cronin in a time of 28:57. Well done to those who ran in Frimley!
Rushmoor – A perfect 10 SJs turned out at Queens Avenue this weekend, with Lucy Dean coming through as first SJ in a great time of 25:41. Meanwhile, Martin Gould came through as first male member in a time of 25:55.
There were PBs from Alison Winders, Margaret Wakeling and Ann Timlett on the day, with Ellie Watson making her first appearance at Rushmoor.
California Country Park – 4 members headed to California Country Park on Saturday, with Ian Watson flying around as first member through in a time of 21:58. Helen Davey came through in a time of 25:44 to finish as first female member.
All members running at California achieved PBs, those being: Ian Watson, Jon Green, Helen Davey and Hannah Glaister.
Tourism – As always, there were plenty of people out and about this weekend, as follows….
Abingdon – Robert Jerrett flew around Abingdon in a time of 18:40 on his first visit to the venue, coming through 7th overall.
Alice Holt – Chris Cole and Jo Fraser endured the ups and downs of Alice Holt, finishing in times of 26:14 and 29:44 on their first runs at the venue.
Andover – Alurie Dutton was down in Andover this weekend, running a time of 35:06.
Basingstoke – George Green ran his 250th parkrun, what an amazing achievement! In his first run at Basingstoke, George ran a time of 24:19.
Bedfont Lakes – Stuart Overhill ran a time of 21:42 at Bedfont Lakes.
Cranleigh – Andrea Hadfield ran a time of 30:20 in her first run at Cranleigh.
Dinton Pastures – There was a mini tourism venture to Dinton this Saturday, with Royston Crandley, Kate Parker, Dave Bartlett and Janet Ford running around the ponds in times of 25:38, 28:29, 28:29 (photo finish!) and 29:34, respectively. It was also Janet’s first run at Dinton, so well done to her!
Eastleigh – In his first run at Eastleigh, Clive Rolfe ran a time of 43:56.
Lymington Woodside – Sam Goodall was at Lymington this weekend, running a time of 34:47 in her first run at the venue.
Luton Wardown – Yvette Glacken was at Luton again, and ran a time of 44:30.
Maidenhead – The SJ duo of Craig Bowles and Stuart Mayes ran at Maidenhead this Saturday, clocking in times of 20:45 (Craig, new PB!) and 21:50 (Stuart). Well done to both!
Seaton – Will Lucas was in Seaton again, this time coming through in a time of 26:29.
Upton Court – The name’s Pond, Jane Pond, ran with Jane Ralls at Upton Court, both for the first time, with Jane Ralls finishing in 29:56, just out-sprinting Jane Pond in 30:00.

Nigel Evans – the marathon machine does it again! Needless to say tracking this guy down is difficult and I need get some big miles in to catch up with him but catch up I will at some point! In the meantime a brief summary of Sundays event with the obligatory “bite the bling” picture…
New Forest Half Marathon/Marathon – Several members ran this event, with the following finish times:
Chris Greatorex – 2:13:00
Sam Goodall – 2:58:08
Helena Wood – 3:02:32
Jonathan Taylor – 5:44:44
Farnham Pilgrim – A very popular run, held in the Surrey Hills through Farnham and the surrounding area. This year’s event was run by Alison Jones, Andrea Hadfield, Sharon Burfield, Lina Johnson, Dave Bartlett, Nigel Evans, Martin Gould, Lance King, Lisa Hale, Jim Laidlaw, Kerstin Johnson and Emma Lewis. It looked like a great run, well done all!
Great North Run – This is one of the biggest runs in the UK calendar, up there with the London Marathon and other events of a similar calibre. This years event was run by the following members:
Rebecca Perrin – 1:52:40
Harvey Young – 2:30:13
Well done guys, looked like a superb day!
Surrey Bacchus Half Marathon – Roy Bentley and Claire Gujer ran this event, with Claire in some rather interesting attire…picture below! Their times were 2:55:45 and 3:23:14, respectively – great running guys!
River Relay 2019 – A baton relay ran over 5 stages from Boveney to Kingston-upon-Thames, organised by the Stragglers running club, this extremely popular event was held on Sunday. The results are still yet to be published, but there was some great running done by several SJ members, representing the club well, as always!
