Q) How and when did you get into running?
A) In 2014 I booked a snowboarding holiday and decided that I would actually enjoy it more if I was a lot fitter, running and a bit of careful eating was the plan. I got the running bug and a friend suggested running the Green Park 10k as a target! That was my first race I finished in 49.03.
My first parkrun wasn’t until June 14 at Frimley Lodge in a time of 23.09

Q) Of the other parkruns you’ve run, which was your favourite and why?
A) I think that my favourite park run was Sewerby in Yorkshire, it’s around a lovely House that has a little zoo. The start is a mile out all the cliff top.
Q) What other events are on your programme for 2020
A) I have my sights set on Manchester Marathon and maybe one more after that . Then I’d like to settle down back to short distance with a new 5k and 10k target .
Jim ran his first parkrun on 14th June 2014 at Frimley Lodge. For those like me who are into the stats, here are some of Jim’s achievements from the Parkrun Challenges.
50 x parkruns in total so far
24 x parkruns @ Frimley Lodge
14 x different venues
14 x Personal Bests (fastest parkrun 19:24 @ Bushy on New Years Day 2020)
5 x New Years Day double (2016 – 2020)
2 x Christmas Day (2017 & 2018)
Jim’s most active month is January with 10 parkruns. Bearing in mind the 5 x New Years Day doubles also means his favourite day for a parkrun is the 1st January with 10 x parkruns!
Thanks for sharing that with us Jim and look forward to seeing you on club runs and at events!
