Handicap Results January 2020

Having just crowned Jon Green the 2019 Handicap winner, it seems with insensitive haste we move straight into 2020 but to Wednesday 8th January 2020 @ Morgan Rec we go….

An astonishing record attendance of 54 members took part in the opening episode of the 2020 series bolstered by the Wednesday GMs of Andrea Vincent, Sharon Burfield and Alison Jones bringing the Variety Run over to Crowthorne along with a large number of newer members to the club.

It was brilliant to see you supporting the newer runners as well as some of the 12 first timers around!

Before we move into the results, a massive thank-you to Simon Willis for his ongoing organisation of this event and a bigger thank-you to Anne Whillis for coming out to help make this happen. With the numbers we had on Wednesday, they that deserve a medal!

On the night the results came is as:

Well done to Elin Loftesness who has clocked up some serious running of late to take the monthly cup home taking by 2:25 of her time to finish in a PB of 34:14. Elin will be sharing the secret of her success with us shortly.

January 2020 Handicap Run winner!

This improvement was a clear 1 minute over 2nd place Patrick Wadsworth who knocked 1:25 of his time. Cat Wickham posted a PB as she knocked over a minute off her time to come in 3rd.

Outside of the podium positions, the only other PB of the night was achieved by Jon Payne finishing in a very impressive 26:01.

On the night, the fastest around the course was Graham Robinson in 24:13 fresh after leading Sandhurst home in last weekends cross country but another impressive statistic was that this was his 100th handicap run. Congratulations Graham!

The overall standings are below and it remains to be seen who will have the commitment and consistency to toe the line each month and see how much they can improve. Really looking forward to as many of you as possible rocking up month-on-month, it is hard but it is a great measure of your improvement.

With so many first timers, February could be an event that can see a real shake-up in the standings, look forward to seeing you there.
