Q) For members who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself?
A) I am 36, an accountant (Yawn) living in Wokingham. My favourite things to do are to eat pizza and drink prosecco, running comes off the back of that!
Q) How and when did you get into running?
A) I got talked in to going for a run with a friend back in 2010 and literally made it to about 30 seconds before collapsing. I realised I was so unfit I needed to do something about it. At the same time my Dad had been diagnosed with Polycystic liver and kidney disease and was seriously poorly. So…. I decided to dive straight in and signed up to run the 2011 London Marathon to get fit and raise money for Kidney Research! I joined Sandhurst shortly after.
Q) What do you enjoy most about being a member of Sandhurst Joggers?
A) I like the flexibility of being able to turn up as and when I can, to any run or event, knowing that there is always a friendly welcome. I am not a regular to the club runs and even if I go months without coming it is so easy to slot back in and be part of the club. I also really like the mix of abilities and the commitment to encourage anyone to join in any run regardless of pace / ability.
Q) On which of the weekly runs are we most likely to bump into you?
A) I’ve not been committed to a specific weekly run over the last year, but you’ll see me at a local parkrun most Saturdays. I’m also aiming to get back as a Handicap regular this year and hoping to make it to some of the Tuesday interval sessions.
Oh, and you will find me at most events that involves a pub.
Q) You’ve ran most of your parkruns at Bracknell (32), tell us what you like about that event?
A) It is only 5 minutes from home which means I can get up at the last minute, and there are always friendly SJ faces to chat with before, during and after. The run itself is actually my least favourite.
Q) Of the 8 other parkruns locations you’ve run, which was your favourite and why?
A) Bushy Parkrun was definitely the most enjoyable. We have done two SJ trips over to Bushy and it was nice to be at the home of Parkrun with a big group of us. It is like no other parkrun I’ve done with well over 1,000 runners. I also grew up over that way and would regularly go to Bushy park as a kid so it also has nice memories. My favourite local parkrun is Woodley where I always get my fastest times.
Q) What other events are on your programme for 2020?
A) I have the London winter 10K in February which I love, and then the London Landmarks Half Marathon in March with around 50 other SJ’s, who are all raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. I am also signed up to Brighton Marathon but Training has barely started so not sure if I will make it or not…… Endure 24 has also become a favourite which is in June.
Hannah ran her 1st parkrun on 19th September 2015 at Bracknell. Here are some of Hannah’s stats from the Parkrun challenges.

32 x parkruns @ Bracknell

Volunteered as marshall and pacer.
Thank you for sharing this with us Hannah and we look forward to see you on the club runs & events plus Endure24!
